What to do on Etna in one day? There are many ideas and suggestions for those lucky enough to dedicate a day to the largest volcano in Europe.
BY CAR
In addition to visiting the places described in What to see on Etna in half a day? you could visit more than one side and so if you go to Rifugio Sapienza (Etna Sud) in the morning you could go in the afternoon to the North side (Piano Provenzana) which offers more alpine and different scenery. Or you could stop in some Etna villages or other naturalistic points of interest reported in our hiking map. In summer, nature lovers can, for example, dedicate the afternoon to visiting the Alcantara Gorges River Park or at the Cyclops Reserve in Acitrezza, taking advantage of the relative proximity of these places, where in summer it is also possible to take a refreshing dip. For gourmets, a stop in one of the many wineries on the “Etna Wine Route” or at a farmhouse or mountain refuge where you can indulge your palate with tasty Sicilian cuisine.

Among the classic one-day excursions you could do for example:ascent to the summit craters (when the civil protection ordinances allow it); visit the wild west side; the descent in Bove Valley or even a visit to the Sciara del Follone and the Ice Cave, a volcanic cave that hosts ice all year round or even the Etna Altomontana Mountain Bike Track, a dirt ring road that enters the Etna park for about 40 km.
