How to visit the summit craters of Etna
The period for trekking excursions is from May to November, while with snow it becomes a mountaineering experience reserved for the more experienced, better with skis. This excursion should be done with expert guides (mandatory since 2013) that we recommend booking in advance as there is often limited availability. Please note: the ascent to the summit craters is a medium-difficulty excursion suitable only for good walkers with adequate equipment, trekking shoes and layered clothing, taking into account that at the top the temperatures are often close to zero even in summer. We have created a mini-site of dedicated proposals with the accompaniment of regularly qualified volcanological guides. Go to www.etnacraterisommitali.com
