The excursions to the craters will allow you to reach the summit area of Etna at altitudes ranging from 2900 meters up to approximately 3300 meters. If the summit areas are closed to the public for safety reasons, alternatives are proposed up to the maximum reachable altitudes, usually between 2500 and 2900 meters above sea level. These are trekking excursions that require physical effort both for the type of terrain on which you move, but above all for the high altitude to which not everyone is accustomed. So if you are not perfectly fit, these excursions are not recommended! But for those who decide to tackle this type of excursion, the effort of the climb will be repaid by the view of the summit craters, where it will be possible to breathe the persistent emission of vapors and gases, touch the volcanic bombs and fumaroles with the multicolored concretions of minerals that form and change appearance daily and sometimes admire the eruptive activity as closely as possible in safe positions. In addition to this spectacle, it will be possible to fill your eyes with the view of the panorama towards half of Sicily. Excursion to the summit craters in 4×4 and trekking from Etna Nord
An excursion on the northern side of the volcano that is carried out using special 4×4 vehicles for the ascent from 1800 to 2800 m and then trekking. On the way down you can admire the splendid panorama of the Valle del Bove, the close-up look at the summit craters and descend along the sandy gullies and extinct lateral craters.
