Crater excursions allow you to reach the summit area of Etna at elevations ranging from 2900 meters to approximately 3300 meters. When the summit areas are closed to the public for safety reasons, alternatives are offered up to the highest accessible altitudes, usually between 2500 and 2900 meters. These are trekking excursions that require physical effort, both due to the type of terrain you'll be trekking over and, above all, the high altitude to which not everyone is accustomed. Therefore, these excursions are not recommended for those who are not perfectly fit! But for those who decide to undertake this type of excursion, the effort of the climb will be rewarded by the view of the summit craters, where you can breathe in the persistent emission of steam and gases, touch the volcanic bombs and fumaroles with their colorful mineral concretions that form and change appearance daily, and sometimes admire the eruptive activity up close from a safe position. In addition to this spectacular view, you'll be able to feast your eyes on the panorama stretching across half of Sicily. The excursions are organized by our volcanology guides, specifically trained to lead groups on active volcanoes, and will ensure you experience a unique and special adventure.

Excursion to the summit craters in 4×4 and trekking from Etna Nord
An excursion on the northern side of the volcano that is carried out using special 4×4 vehicles for the ascent from 1800 to 2800 m and then trekking. On the way down you can admire the splendid panorama of the Valle del Bove, the close-up look at the summit craters and descend along the sandy gullies and extinct lateral craters.
Positive difference in altitude: 400 m | 6/12 Km (depending on the choice of downhill itinerary)
Medium difficulty, for people with good walking skills and in good health. Starting from €60 per person (+4×4 ticket €60).
