• JEEP TOUR > BOVE VALLEY
  

  On board our off-road vehicles, crossing the characteristic Etna villages, following the roads that ascend the volcano on the ancient and recent lava flows, it will be possible to reach the Valle del Bove, a huge natural amphitheater that covers almost the entire eastern slope of the volcano. We will explain the processes of formation of this place and the geological history of the volcano (still evolving...) object of interest of volcanologists from all over the world.

• TREKKING ON THE LATERAL CRATERS
  

  The second stage will be dedicated to trekking for a close contact with the countless naturalistic and volcanological aspects of the Etna Park. We will then tread the paths made on the lava to climb to the edge of beautiful lateral craters where it will be possible to admire a breathtaking landscape on the north-east side of Etna, Taormina, the Ionian Sea and Calabria! The trekking can vary from an hour (easy) to about 2 hours based on the needs and ability of the group.

• VISIT TO A VOLCANIC CAVE
  

  Etna is very rich in volcanic caves, over 250 known, which were formed by the effect of the lava becoming entombed by the solidification of the outermost layer of the eruptive flow in contact with the air. Once the cooling is complete, the extraordinary morphologies connected to the passage of the fluid and incandescent lava remain visible: remelting stalactites, bubbles, shelves, rolls and more. We will provide you with lights and helmets to visit, by descending inside, a fascinating volcanic cave in order to understand some truly unique and interesting dynamics.

• REFRESHMENT WITH TYPICAL SICILIAN PRODUCTS
  

  The Etna & Alcantara refreshment stop is all about quality local specialties. You will be offered a tasting menu of Etna specialties, thus filling you up but not weighing you down for the next part of the itinerary which also includes physical contact (for those who want) with the icy waters of the Alcantara river.

• THE ALCANTARA GORGES
  

  After the lunch break we will move to the famous Alcantara Gorges (45 min by car). Here a staircase will take us down into this enormous natural ravine to admire naturalistic aspects of enormous charm including the columnar basalts, in the magnificent context of the famous Alcantara Gorges, a canyon of volcanic origin that developed thousands of years ago following lava flows from the northern side of the volcano. In addition to the usual selfies, the bravest can dive into the freezing water of the river for a 12° resistance challenge even in the height of summer! Optionally, you can visit the nearby Botanical and Geological park (ticket €13), for an easy trek on the panoramic path from which you can take beautiful photos.
