Itinerary to Etna South – Silvestri Craters & Bocche 2001
Among the possible itineraries on Etna South, recommended if you're coming from Catania, Syracuse, Acireale, Giarre, and southern Sicily in general, are the Silvestri Craters and the 2001 eruptive vents. This approximately 5-kilometer, highly scenic route at 2000 meters above sea level is suitable for anyone in good health. You'll see volcanic landscapes, extinct craters, ancient and recent lava flows, endemic flora, and much more. The meeting point is shown on the map on this page, at the free parking lot not far from the Silvestri Craters. See Directions.
Itinerary to Etna North – Bocche 2002
If you're coming from Messina, Taormina, and generally from the Etna towns on the northern slopes, the recommended itinerary is the 2002 eruption loop. This highly scenic route, approximately 6 km long, lies between 1800 and 2000 meters above sea level and is suitable for those in good health. You'll pass through lava fields from various eras, countless aligned craters, and lunar landscapes. In this case, the meeting point is the Piano Provenzana tourist resort. See directions.
Tasting of typical products included
The offer also includes a coupon for a tasting of typical products and a glass of Etna wine at MontataGrande in Trecastagni, available on the same day or later. The location is 25 minutes from Etna South and 50 minutes from Etna North.
Important: This excursion requires suitable equipment, especially hiking boots (no low-cut shoes), and at least an adequate amount of water (1-1,5 liters per person). If you need to rent equipment, please request it before departure.
