During Etna's eruptions, thanks to the chemical-physical conditions of its magma, the formation of volcanic caves (lava tubes) is very common. A very fascinating phenomenon that occurs when a lava flow has time to better structure its descent to the valley, creating real rivers of lava, complete with channels and banks. When the eruption ends, the lava tube duct can empty, leaving the cavity empty and passable. This tour focuses on visiting several volcanic caves (at least 3) in half a day to enter the meanders of the volcano and explore different types of cavities. It is possible to select two shifts, morning or afternoon, or request a private service, selecting the time most suitable for your needs. Furthermore, based on your needs, it is possible to choose whether to carry out the visit with the use of a vehicle or with short treks, for those who do not mind moving a bit in the open air. The guides will select the caves to visit based on this choice and the physical capabilities of the participants. You will be provided with lights and a speleologist helmet. You will have to bring a pair of gloves to avoid possible abrasions from accidental contact with the rocks.

TREKKING ITINERARY
For good walkers it will be possible to reach 3 or more caves with the use of a means of transport (optional) for any movements, made available by our organization, and short walks to reach the entrances of the cavities. The caves that can be visited in this case will be hypogea that require a good physical ability, as they may require the use of ladders or sections that can be walked with the use of all four limbs. It is the most adventurous and recommended solution!

ITINERARY WITH YOUR OWN VEHICLE
This solution differs from the previous one in trekking, for the fact that your vehicle will be used for travel, following the guide's car or the guide can climb aboard your vehicle, in the travel from one cave to another to continue to provide all the interesting information. You will visit caves even kilometers away from each other, all usually easily accessible and visitable without particular physical abilities of the participants. This solution is particularly recommended for families or those who want to have a naturalistically exciting experience but comfortable and without effort. Indicate this itinerary in the notes.

What should I bring?
For this excursion, trekking or tennis shoes are mandatory only in the 4x4 itinerary solution. Also recommended are: gloves, windbreaker/sweatshirt, water. If you need them, you can use our rental where you will find shoes, jackets, sticks and more. Helmet and speleo lights will be provided by our organization.

What can I rent?
At our meeting point in Trecastagni, you can rent trekking shoes, insulating jackets, trekking poles and request child seats for children up to 3 years old. You can book the equipment in the online booking form.

Can I bring my dog?
On this excursion, you can bring your 4-legged friend only on some itineraries (outside the A zone of the Park). However, it should be considered that not all dogs may be able to enter closed spaces such as caves. We recommend that you consider participating in the exclusive formula, to have maximum autonomy and because the presence of the dog could influence the group's choices. Report the presence of your faithful friend to the secretariat during the booking phase.
