Not only is it possible, but sometimes you can even touch it (or almost…)

Etna is one of the most active volcanoes in the world and erupts fairly frequently (on average once a year). The chance of seeing an eruption also depends on the duration of the eruption itself. Sometimes the eruption lasts only a few hours ( paroxysms ), but it can also last months or years, as was the case with the 1991-93 Zafferana eruption (473 days). If you are fortunate enough to visit the volcano during an eruptive phase, we strongly recommend hiring expert guides, who, knowing the best observation points, will allow you to safely enjoy a unique and unforgettable spectacle.

An updated bulletin on the volcano's status and tourist availability is published on our website .

EtnaExcursion.it has a special excursion in its catalog to see the eruptions: the Lava Tour
