If you are an excellent walker and you like nature, Etna Hiking Full Day is the right experience for you! In this excursion, the most demanding itineraries, therefore of greater height difference or length, will be traveled in the less touristy and explored areas of the park. Among the recommended full-day itineraries there are paths that represent an extension to half-day ones such as the visit to the Valle del Bove, but with descent on the lava of 1992 which changed forever (or almost) the appearance of the valley and return to Val Calanna or we offer excursions on the north and west slopes of Etna to visit places that are also well known, but difficult to reach in half a day such as the Grotta dei Lamponi or the Grotta del Gelo, which houses what is considered the accumulation of perennial natural ice further south of Europe, these cavities are located in the suggestive context of the Piano dei Dammusi, where in 1614/24 the longest historical eruption of the volcano erupted particular Pahoehoe lavas, which underfoot remind the sound of the roofs of the typical houses on the island of Pantelleria. Some of the itineraries are developed on paths of even tens of kilometers, therefore the participation of these excursions must be weighted according to your health and a good walking training. You can choose one of the itineraries proposed below. Max 10 pax for a guide.

TRAIL A - INTO THE WILD WEST SIDE
The west side of the volcano is the wildest side since it is located further away from the Etna tourist centers, but it is not for this reason less fascinating, on the contrary ... For lovers of trekking in nature it will be a very interesting experience to follow paths that will lead you to inside a dense vegetation, ancient and recent lava flows and on the edge of lateral craters that will allow a breathtaking wide-ranging view of the Simeto valley, the Sicilian hinterland and the town of Bronte. In the Etna Trekking Fd solution you can close several ring trails and also visit the fascinating volcanic swellings. Itineraries from 14 to 20 km. Difference in altitude + 5 / 700mt. Good walkers.

TRAIL B - Grotta del Gelo & co...
Having a full day and above all a good workout (!) The itinerary on the north side of Etna that leads to the Grotta del Gelo is truly a pearl to be included in your hiking curriculum. Many varieties of places and landscapes along the route that mainly develops on the lava expanse of 1614/24, the so-called Sciara dei Dammusi with its particular pahoehoe lavas. You will visit not only the cave famous for the presence of perennial ice, but also its other less famous but no less beautiful sisters, on the contrary ... Itineraries from 16 to 22 km. Difference in altitude 5/800 +. For expert walkers only.

TRAIL C - INTO THE VALLEY
This itinerary will take us to visit the Valle del Bove, in this case, however, thanks to the greater time available, going down inside to observe the spectacular and mammoth natural depression in which most of the Etna eruptions converge. We will then trample the lava of 1992, the largest eruption of the 20th century that threatened the town of Zafferana and which transformed the luxuriant Valley into a heath of twisted, rugged as well as spectacular, expanses of lava. Depending on the preparation of the participants, the guide will decide the difficulty and length of the route. Itineraries from 14 to 18 km. Difference in altitude 5/900 +. Good / expert walkers.

TRAIL D - FOLLOWING THE SHEPHERD'S PATHS
This absolutely unusual itinerary, which develops on the South West side, will guide you to discover places that recall the echoes of the past, all those "muntanari" (shepherds, woodcutters, charcoal burners, nivaroli ...) that have created a trail network for their uses. Thanks to our expert guides it will therefore be possible to plow uncataloged paths to live an exclusive experience that will lead you to an exploration of the secrets of the territory rather than an excursion. Based on the preparation of the participants, the guide will be able to close some more or less wide rings to visit some of the most interesting volcanic caves of the volcano, which can be reached with old mule tracks built on lava stone. Recommended excursion as a second experience on the volcano in association with one of the previous itineraries (B / C).Itinerari dai 14 ai 18 km. Versante SO. Dislivello 5/800+. What should i bring?
Trekking shoes, packed lunch (not included) and water (at least 2 Lt) are mandatory for this excursion. Also recommended: poles, sunglasses, windproof jacket / sweatshirt. If you need it, you can take advantage of our rental.

What can i rent?
At our meeting point in Trecastagni, you can rent trekking shoes, insulating jackets, trekking poles, backpacks and request seats for children up to 3 years. You can book the equipment in the online booking form.

In case of bad weather?
It depends. If the conditions are not prohibitive, i.e. it is cloudy or raining but there is a fair visibility, usually the tours are carried out without any difficulty. In any case, the guide carries out an evaluation based on his experience and if the conditions are not met, he can decide to move or cancel the excursion in agreement with our guests. In case of cancellation due to bad weather, decided between the parties, the reimbursement of any advance membership fees paid is made.
